Hello from Whistler and Sea to Sky!

I hope you and your families are all staying healthy and safe at this time.

I wanted to reach out to you today to let you know I am here working and available to you anytime. Even though we can’t meet face to face, we can connect and chat over the phone, email, zoom, WhatsApp, FaceTime … whatever works.

None of us truly know the full effects of any of this quite yet so it would be premature for me to provide any kind of projections for our markets or our resort at this time. Know that I will be working hard to make sense of things as the situation evolves and will be sharing any new and useful information as it becomes available.

For me personally, I am currently on day 8 of a 14 day self-quarantine with Tina, the boys and our 2 pooches having traveled back from Maui where our Spring Break got cut short. We are making the most or our time together and enjoying cooking family dinners together, watching all sorts of movies and making the best of all of this.

While it is a challenging time for all, I am super inspired to see it bring out the best in each other. We see it in doctors, nurses, and first responders who are on the front lines helping people directly affected by this situation. We see it in grocery store clerks, municipal workers and good neighbours delivering food to those that need it. These are the true heroes of this time, doing their part to keep us all moving forward.  To salute these heroes, every night at 7pm the people of Vancouver and the Sea to Sky area are heading outside to their balconies, front door steps, where ever they are to cheer, blast horns, clang pots and more to show their support for our amazing health care workers. Mum has been sharing videos with me… It is quite the scene.

So for now, we are taking delight in the silver linings that come to us on a day to day basis. The amazing local and international artists, musicians, personal trainers, business leaders and so many more that are sharing their creativity, passion and expertise during this time. I just signed up for a free course offered by Yale University called “The Science of Well-being”.  Check it out at www.coursera.com.

Check out this video from a good friend of his walk through Whistler Village yesterday. Unbelievable to see it so quiet at this time of year.  https://youtu.be/hsr8Ls74jEg

Would love to see what you are doing during these times or hear any of your inspirational tales. Please share whatever you can.

I know that our community will come out of this stronger and wiser than before and it’s going to be a heck of a celebration when we do!!!

All the very best,
Rob
